As we found our voices, we also found our natural singing styles. Mike could sing “rock-a-billy” and ballads. His “Unchained Melody” could make the girls cry.Dave brought his own special touch to the blues and Dan had a flare for the dramatic. John didn’t sing much lead but he was solid in the harmonies.

Ahhh, yeah, those ballads were the hook for all the girls. I remember one particular Tuesday night at the Bel Rae Ballroom in Mounds View, MN. The band had been playing one great dance tune after another. We were all drenched in sweat, even though it was way below freezing outside. And then everything got slow and Mike started crooning and all the girls moved in close to the stage. Wow...what a voice! Mike could carry a torch song, even at that age.
