What'd I Say

At first, not much, “The Continentals” was mostly an instrumental group. Our first vocal song was “What’d I Say” by Ray Charles. David sang lead and John and I would shout back at him.
The reason we wanted Mike Judge was because he could sing. That, and he had a car. Gradually we trained our voices and our ear to the point where “The Chancellors” became known for tight four-part harmonies.

Our recordings in the USA were only on Soma. In Canada, they were released under the Apex label.
The band you are looking for may be, The Chancellors, Ltd., out of Texas.

dan,

thank you very much for the info. i, and another record collector were having a debate over who's records were whose. he was lumping your group in with another chancellors who were based in lincoln, nebraska. your info supports my contention that they were completely different groups. we both have heard your record and the other and there is some similarity in the sound of both.

thanks again,
